Urinalysis

At Marron’s Pharmacy, we have the facility to check your urine for infection or some other abnormal markers.

Over the years, we have had people feel sure they have a ‘kidney’ infection (urinary tract infection) and look for an antibiotic from us. We can not give these without a prescription from a registered doctor. We won’t just turn you away however. If you bring a urine sample, we can check it for the presence of leukocytes, protein or blood (some of the markers for infection). We will still need to send you to your doctor but at least you have a better insight why.

The urine dipsticks can also flag other problems and if we identify anything abnormal, we will refer you to your doctor with our referral letter.

The strength of this service is quick access along with weekend and bank holiday availability.

The cost of this service is €10. This includes urine pot and test results
